Chrysanthemum and Idioms

Hi Ya'll,
It has been a while since I blogged.  Thank goodness for my buddy Lisa otherwise our blog would never have anything new posted.  But she inspired me to take some pictures of my hallway display.  We finally got our Chrysanthemum response finished.  On the left of each student page is a letter that their parents wrote them to explain why they chose their name.  Some of them are very touching.  This is the first year that all of my students turned in a letter.  On the right of the page, the students wrote an acrostic poem with their names.  This year's class is amazing and did such a wonderful job.

In honor of Halloween I had my students think of all the idioms with the words dead, die or death.  As you can see they came up with some really good idioms.  We had a blast doing this activity (laughed a lot!)  We typed them up, illustrated them and made them into tombstones.  We will be hanging this up with our haunted house stories in the next few days.

First Currently and A Lot of Other Stuff

Hi ya'll!
It's September! I can't believe the first week of school is over. I am pleased to say that I have survived. My kiddos are great (that is what I will keep saying), my room is coming along, and our team is rocking. In the last year and a half, Tina and I have lost two teachers to retirement and one moved up to fourth grade. Our two newest members are new teachers and they are so awesome. It's crazy how good they already are!

Breaking News- My students love Whole Brain Teaching! I jumped all in this year and am enjoying every minute of it. I like creating gestures for whatever we are learning. And my kiddos love teaching and switching and mirroring with words and, ... If you do not know this Whole Brain Teaching, check out the vids on youtube.

I am linking up with Farley for her Currently Link Up.

Wanting~ I want to make a positive difference in the lives of my students, each and every day.

Heart- Love myself spot- I need to start exercising every day, I need to leave school at a reasonable hour unlike last week when I stayed at school until 6 too many times, and I desperately need a pedi and I want a pedi and a pedi will make my heart happy =)
