Two for Tuesday ~ Two Products for Half Price!

Hello there!
I am linking up with The Teaching Tribune for Two for Tuesday! Two products in our TpT store will be HALF PRICE for today only!
Two for Tuesday
First up is a unit for one of my favorite stories by one of my favorite authors~
Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes
Chrysanthemum (book activities for the story by Kevin Henkes}

I. love. this. book. I love the story {my 24 year old still remembers it}. I love the vocabulary.
I love the message. Again ~ I. love. this. book.
If you don't know this book, Chrysanthemum is a small mouse that is full of life. When she begins school, a few other mice tease Chrysanthemum about her name. She begins to dislike her name and her self esteem drops. It all changes when a teacher intervenes in the best way possible.

This unit contains vocabulary cards, vocabulary for interactive notebooks, a graph for letters in names, story map, summarizing, sequencing, a venn diagram, homographs,  a sweet activity that parents help out with, and suggestions for other reading responses.

Second up, is a unit for another of Kevin Henkes' books.
Owen by Kevin Henkes
Owen (book activities for the story by Kevin Henkes}

I have to admit, I love this book as well. I love the ingenuity of Owen as he tries to keep his blanket {which is like a best friend}. His parents think Owen is too old for a blanket should not take it with him when he begins school. Owen is resourceful in his attempts to keep his blanket.

This unit contains vocabulary cards, favorite things graph, vocabulary for interactive notebooks, story map, sequencing, a venn diagram, homographs, and a journal entry.

If you are interested, head to our store to pick these up for half price for today only!

First Monday Made It of the Summer

Hello! I am linking up with Tara at 4th Grade Frolics for her linky party.

Here I go!

School ended for me last Wednesday! I've spent time cleaning my house which I still need to continue this week. But I wanted to share this fun Father's Day gift my students gave their dads.

I took a photograph of each student. Then we cut them out, traced them on card stock, cut it out again, and adhered them to a ceramic tile with Mod Podge. These went perfect with their Mother's Day gifts. Of course, I forgot to take pics, but I also used ceramic tiles and black and white photos of the kiddos.
I am going to do this again next year with my 5th graders!

I plan on updating some TpT products and creating new ones~ especially for 5th grade.
Here is my first update~ First Day Jitters! One of my favorite third grade stories and I will miss kicking off the year with it.
You can click on the pic if you are interested in seeing this unit.

Next week, I hope to have completed two more reading units~Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and The Witches. They are half ways done and my kiddos loved the lap books we created for these stories!

Thanks Tara for the fun linky! If you would like to visit her party, just click on her name at the top of the page.

Five For Friday~ on a Saturday

Hello! I am linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching.

fiveforfriday2_thumb[3]

First, this past week was our last week of school. Students finished up on Tuesday and we finished on Wednesday.

Second, I have begun preparing to teach 5th Grade next year. These are a few of the books I am considering~
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (1997)

Third, my class made father's day gifts. We cut out their silhouettes and mod podged { can I verbify that?} them onto ceramic tile. They came out so cute!

Fourth, this made me laugh so much!
  Photo: So true!

Fifth, I have blogged twice this week! Woo~hoo! Summer!

Movin' On Up

Hello all!
Well, I've been given some news about next year~ my principal has decided
she needs "my expertise" in 5th grade. I must admit, I was shocked!
I've taught 3rd grade for 16 years.
And I love third grade.
And I love third graders.
And I love getting hugs in the morning.
And I love getting hugs at the end of the day.
And I love getting hugs during the day (yeah, I love hugs~ my own children are much too old for hugs).
I love that 8 eight year olds still love school and their teacher (for the most part).
But most of all, I love teaching next door to TINA!
She has been my bestest best friend for 14 years.
I see her all day long and I still react like this every time~

I love teaching reading.
She loves teaching math.
I love teaching music and dance.
She loves teaching art.
I teach her kiddos Social Studies.
She teaches my kiddos Science.
She is the yin to my yang.

Well, I finally got my big girl panties on and am going to love 5th grade.
Our fifth grade team is ah~mazing!
They are fun, funny, and so sweet.
And next year's fifth graders were awesome third graders.
And change is good, right?
And Tina and I are going to meet an hour early everyday so we can get our visiting done.

Well, I guess I am movin' up in the world~
